The very next day, Jai Singh shifted to City Palace and started with the construction work of the temple. He brought the idols of Govind Dev Ji and Radha Ji from Vrindavan and placed them here. Since then this temple was a place of worship for the members of the royal family of Jaipur.

The idols of the Govind Dev Ji and Radha Ji at Govind Dev Ji Temple in Jaipur are dressed seven times a day and every time they are dressed up in a different way. After the unveiling of the idols after getting dressed up, the process of aarti and bhog take place. Janmashtami, the day celebrated as the day when Lord Krishna was born sees a large number of devotees coming to the temple.
